Looks like there's just not enough hate to sustain this thread
Tangents are the only way to keep it going...

I couldn't get on board the movie as real or anything close to science fiction or even Star Trek. But I enjoyed, I'd watch the next one because it was entertaining.

hmmm, maybe I should cut & paste from my thoughts on the movie thread.
![]() The writers make too many basic writing mistakes throughout the movie. They also have no grasp whatsoever of the main character. And laying the cheese on with a trowel - did not help!

It's not perfect (although it's the most brazenly entertaining Star Trek film in decades) but, while I think some criticisms are valid, a lot stem from what individual's personal perceptions of what 'Star Trek' should be are to them.
If I was going down the route of 'hating' the film because of some of it's issues (not that I would agree with all those listed as issues, but everyone has their own opinion) then I sadly would have to approach ALL Star Trek with the same fine tooth comb. Then I would probably end up 'hating' a great deal more of it all than I currently do. So, I'll do what I've had to do on many, many prior occasions, and 'go with the flow'!

What's up with you dude. I have a feeling that you started this thread to get a rise out of me. You know you and I have had words. If so, it ain't gonna work. I didn't hate the movie. I actually liked the movie itself. It was quite entertaining. But based upon what I personally feel is Star Trek, it didn't work. It worked fine as an entertaining action/adventure/sci-fi summer popcorn flick, just not as a Star Trek movie as I would have envisioned it. Too many liberties were taken with the original continuity for my tastes. The Abramsprise is fugly. Engineering looks like something out of the 19th century. The iBridge is too bright. Spock/Uhura? I'd rather forget that part altogether. But for the entertainment factor the movie gets a thumbs up. For the "honoring and respecting" TOS? Multiple thumbs down, in my humble personal opinion, of course.
