Sorry. That was meant as being funny, not as a put down. I think Capt. Tom is a cool guy. Why would I take a swipe at him?

The point is, no matter what you think up these days as a science fiction story, it's probably already been done before... (usually by Heinlien, Asimov, Clarke or Bradbury) If you are interested in reading the Van Vogt, I think it's reprinted in an anthology called "Mirror of Infinity."
