well.. we have to ask what USS stands for to Starfleet.

Originally a ship was the S.S blah blah blah. standing for Steam Ship, when steam ships stopped being produced it because USS for United States Ship (USS) But United states ship voyager doesnt make alot of sense

Perhaps United Starfleet Ship? rather redundant

Useful Space Ship? Im gonna go with Useful Space Ship.

Even more intresting was that in the begining the ship was refered to as "The Voyager" and not just Voyager or the Starship Voyager.

It all reminded me of that little mini series called Earth Star Voyager.

Pike said he comes from the United Space Ship Enterprise. Could also be United Star Ship, I'm not sure.
