Arrow Terminator-Style Androids Nearing Reality, Professor Fears

A British professor has warned that the technology already exists to create "Terminator"-style killer robots and called for a "desperately needed" international dialogue on the ethical and other ramifications of such machines, according to an account in a recent article.

Professor Noel Sharkey said that weapons makers have pursued a science-fiction approach to such technology that promotes machine autonomy which, if unchecked, could pose a potentially critical threat to human beings.

The whole idea that we could create an intelligence that destroys us is absolutely... phenomenal to me. Tell me, why can we create machines smarter than us, but can't make ourselves any smarter?
