That's interesting, because the whole 'teens discovering hormones' aspect of HPB is why it's my least favourite book. Yet it translated into genuinely funny moments in the film version.

I ended up enjoying HPB the film far more than I expected to.

Wow! I vote for The Half Blood Prince as my favourite so far. It was brilliant, though it did jump off the story and miss some big bits out.

It was very funny and had brilliant SFX. And it was so much better in the IMAX with the first 15 mins in 3D with the glasses.

See...teens discovering sex is much more interesting and fun to me than teens whining about their continued misunderstood existence...give me good hormonally charged sexual tension any day.

Indeed. Loved the opening of the movie. Looked like a big budget disaster film. Very well done. Atypical of a Harry Potter film. And yes, in IMAX 3D it was even better.

Fair enough. I didn't enjoy the whining either, but felt OP had a better story going on around it.

I felt HPB had nothing else to offer for the first two-thirds until all hell broke loose at the end with the Battle of Hogwarts.

Indeed....and that was just a taster of things to come.

And if the climax of The Deathly Hallows remains true to form, then we're in for an extremely epic final battle at Hogwart's.

I'm guessing that rather than have two battles in two films set at Hogwarts they're saving up the goods for the final all-out battle of DH.

I just hope we get to see Mrs Weasley take down Bellatrix! I don't know why, but really want to see that!

All the films have their charms and flaws.
