Like I said, if I cannot pay cash, I do not need to buy it....and I don't know anyone who takes the kind of vacation that needs a credit card....people actually go to visit a town where they have no-one they know to stay with, and so need a hotel room? I thought that was only for the honeymoon....lol

I find that, when I've travelled to the US, and some UK hotels that a credit card is required for checking in to charge against any possible room service charges and as part I.D.

I'm sure it can be got around, but it's always the first thing requested.

I was being funny...or at least, I was trying to be...but since I have never had a credit card in my own name (at 38 years old), I have never stayed overnight anywhere if I had to pay...I either stayed home, or was invited with the assurance my host would pay for it. I've also never rented a car in my life. I leave that to the few rich friends I have; they are always inviting me to go with them to all sorts of places, but I usually tell them I can't get the time off from work....it happens to be the truth, too. The three cards my husband and I had together taught me that I can not handle one responsibly; so I never got one of my own.

Sorry my bad...but what you were saying was kinda right. I mean, a vacation can be expensive and they're rarely an essential, as such.

They do the mind and body great good, but are still basically a luxury we can live without til we save up for it.
