Remind me when the DVD is released and I'll make the wallpapers for you.
![]() -JT As far as screensavers, I don't know how to make them. I can make an animated .gif of the warp sequence, but that by no means is a screensaver. |

![]() -JT I will so totally do so- and thanks! I'm a total and complete Luddite! I keep seeing people doing all this wonderful stuff, making videos on youtube, getting all these images, and I'm just in AWE. Will they work on my Mac as well as on a PC? I have a long wait until October! |

Yes, a .jpg will work on your Mac.
Just Shift-click and select "Save as backround/wallpaper."In the meantime, you can go to my page: http://home.comcast.net/~jeditray/ Click the "Wallapers" link and check out the Star Trek wallpapers. Enjoy! -JT |

I was about to make a post asking specifically about the missing screensaver and low and behold, there is already a thread on it.
I guess that means its a no go, the film may be on its way out of theatres now. Would have been nice though, especially if there were options to use the latest graphics frameworks that many of us have built into our video cards. The perfect option would have been an immersive scene built around directx 9 and or 10 showing the Enterprise traveling at warp. I wonder how well our modern cards could actually render such a scene in real time? I have an ati 4850, very modest, but still a decent card. I have seen some truly impressive 3d renderings in real time on similar cards in todays games, even an older one like Eve Online has some truly impressive visuals. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jOJR5Xauf0 So I was looking forward to the 3d masters far better than most of us to actually put something star trek and cool out there to feast on. Ah well. But maybe all is not lost. Maybe one of the engineers has some spare time and would be allowed to get something out, maybe it could be a teaser/promo for the next movie. Hope springs eternal. |

Yeah, we called them on the "Warp Mode" screensaver they teased us about on the official Website. As a result, the "teaser" graphic was removed and no news of ANY screensaver has come since. Personally, I think that downright SUCKS and they are just trying to "punish" us for that fiasco.
Who knows, maybe the screensaver, which I think is completed or at least near completion (nobody teases Web graphics without at least having things halfway prepared), will be put on the site in time for the DVD release. Also, perhaps it will be included on the disc itself. Hopefully they will realize how utterly crappy it would be to not let us have access to it at all. But then again, look how they have treated it so far. -JT |

I use this as my desktop background.
http://www.eclectric-fx.com/model/images/1701.jpg Simple and clean, and still the best looking enterprise ever to grace the screen. Oh I would love to see a ship like that gliding through warp in real time. Come on industrial light and magic techs !!!!!!! I know you can do it, get them to free your creative shackles and make something for the trek masses. |
