I know its really sad to admit but I started a project knocking up pages in the style of the Star Trek fact files for the B5 races. I was going to run an amalgum universe role playing campaign. Trek vs the Shadows would be cool a bit like those dodgy aliens in season 1 of TNG that never saw the light of day again despite being really cool and creepy.

That's why we never got the game off the ground - everybody I know would want to play the Federation as a combination of the Mirror Universe and Jack Bauer from 24, torturing their way to a peaceful occupation...

[quote=Pauln6;220051]B5 was awesome but it was a flawed masterpiece. He struggled with the format a nd some really cool plot threads fell by the wayside because of problems with the actors. Overall it's well worth the effort. If they could merge the Trek universe and B5 universes we'd have a really amazing amalgam.

Just think.....If the Gorn costume fro TOS could have been replaced with the Narn costume from B5. Cool!

I guess that the Shadow Wars in B5 were the near equivilent of the Dominion War of Trek. (Though the Shadows, to me, were like the Borg in their being the ultimate enemy. Not as scary, but just as dangerous.)

I do have to say that the big explanation for the war in B5 was kinda unique. Not conquerors, assimilation or 'bringing order' type of things. But for lack of a better word... evolution.

B5 took an aspect from old style Dungeons & Dragons - that the conflict between Law and Chaos is just as fierce as the fight between Good and Evil. It was very interesting although I would have preferred it if they'd dragged it out until about half way through season 4 since I thought it was a more interesting conflict than the Earth one.
