maybe spock told Kirk of his plans to become ambassador and possibilty bring back romulus and vulcan before kirk boarded the Enterprise-B, enough time to send spock a Happy Birthday message if you will.

You are correct NCC. The entire reference to "unification" and Spock going to Romulas was a big mistake. They should have just said Kirk had recorded a "just in case" last message to Spock to be delivered upon his death. Simple, but Noooooo, these writers TRY to get all Trekkie and make it complicated, then they "F" it up!

Actually... yea that would have been better. There would have to be some talk about the various things they and the crew did over the years.

kirk is no longer dead,if we stretch the new time line forward ,shall we say 23** kirk is alive ,thus an older kirk played by willliam shatner can serve as a story teller (hypothetical speaking of course and assuming that kirk never died under a bridge on veridian III

What, he can't go more than once? And it would have been decades later the second time he went.

No, the F up would be the appearance of Shatner.

I still hope he dies a meaningless death - It's a far more realistic end than a glory one.

perhaps, but I was referring to the way they tried to braid an intricate story in order to explain a darn recorded message. What should have been simple they F'd up.

So they realised that and dumped him.
