Trek has now opened in Japan and is being very well received! Lots of applause on opening night, which is not at all the standard in Japanese theaters.

Check out this page showing all the cool schwag they get to buy at their theaters: http://www.stfan.com/news/000135.html

The program, pin and keychain will be mine, oh yes!

Oh please let it not completely bomb in Japan!

I'm not expecting anything spectacular but fair to middlin' would be nice.

Dang it. Now that song is stuck in my head. "When you're big in Japan..."

'Sounds Like A Melody' is better and 'Summer in Berlin'.

In Japan, I'd be a legend.

Seriously though, rousing applause for a movie is very atypical in Japan. Usually, as I've always understood it, outright approval for a movie is characterized by deafening silence.

George Lucas, upon viewing Star Wars in Japan with an audience, felt rather dismayed that the reaction was so unlike other audiences around the world. He took heart when someone told him: No, George, these people are blown away. Complete silence is their way of expressing that.
