New audiences may think the movie is full of old people. I don't know but this may be one of those cases where the 2nd movie does tons better than the first because by then people have caught on.

I wonder if Paramount consults with marketeers in the various countries. Seems to me that would be both a beneficial and logical thing to do.

I guess the European market is still the most relevant non-US market for Trek although Trek might have sold well in East Asia too.
I have to disagree with NCC, Trek has always been pretty popular here in Germany. |

I keep my fingers crossed.
I also agree with the notion that Star Trek is very popular in Germany, but there are some reasons because of which it might have a slighly different status than in the USA. It's traditionally considered a children's program
