Default Overseas Markets
What do you think it will take to make Trek as popular in overseas markets as say Star Wars or the Xmen movies or Harry Potter etc.? I can't see why it isn't, especially with this film.

Because people like a good spectacle and Star Trek, despite being a great sci-fi, isn't really known for that.

This Trek certainly pushed in areas that more mainstream audiences like... but I guess foreign markets don't want to buy simply because it has "Trek" in its name.

Various people have brought up a good point that it's very American. Maybe that's why? It's part of America's pop culture but not really anyone elses.

...Is "elses" a word?

Hmmm I don't know if its all about spectacle....Maybe....

You'd think they'd have 'heard the news' about this one. Did Paramount run the 'This is not your father's Star Trek' promos around the world?
