Every other series has a "How did (insert series) impact your life?" and I realized that TNG deserved to be included more than any other series.

I was born on June 6, 1989, smack dab in between the end of Season 2 and the beginning of Season 3. TBH, the TNG ship and crew are like family to me, and I hold them in high regard, since I literally grew up with them. Picard, Riker, Data, Troi, Geordi, Worf, Dr. Crusher, they were all household names, and to this day they still are. The Enterprise-D was like my home, and it seemed I knew every inch of the ship like I knew every street and block in my neighborhood. And when the show went off, I still felt like I was in that world. I still have my playmates Picard and Riker action figures, and though my toy Enterprise-D was lost years and years ago, I still feel that that ship was the one place I felt most at home. Even though I enjoy watching the classic movies simply because that was definitive trek to me, TNG will always be my family, and I will never forget how it impacted my life.

So, did anyone else feel that way? If so, tell us all about your TNG memories!!!

Just barely.
I did grow up marginally on it. I wasn't allowed to watch much TV and when I did get a chance to watch I really didn't know what was going on. Strangely I felt I was just getting to know it when it went off. Seven years I found after Voy and DS9 is so short.

I was born in 1986, so yeah. Although, I saw TOS reruns before TNG so I appreciate them both equally. I do know a girl whose middle name is Deanna, though, so it has certainly impacted lives in much the same way that TOS did.

I was 11 years old when TNG started, so no... not a TNG baby

TNG was my first serie and I think still one of the best series ever shown on TV.

but it's so different from the original...It's not about the three it's about all seven. They didn't do that before. And they never again had characters like those three, Kirk, Spock and McCoy. I don't think it could be recreated.

nope...I was an old working woman by the time Next Gen came on...but, I think it is one of the best things ever on TV...

I was, I grew up with TNG and I'll have to agree with Saq. One thing the original show had, that made it incredibly original was the relationship between Bones, Kirk and Spock. The movies had it as well and it made it work beautifully. You didn't have anything like that in TNG, I think they tried, but were always trading off supporting characters to achieve it. Both shows are great, but for me, but I'll always feel closer to TNG.

I don't think you need to be a TNG baby to feel that way about the show. I was born somewhere between Season 2 and 3 of TOS and it's what got me into sci-fi to begin so it will always have a special place in my heart. But... somehow TNG is the most special of them all for me. Sometimes when I look at the Enterprise D, I wish it was my home and seeing all the main characters interact together brings me a feeling of familiarity and warmth that no other Star Trek series can.
