They probably don't have to operate under a mountain of corporate rules.

You make an interesting point. It could just be different values/objectives/focus/traffic but I don't see the point in speculating on that.

When all those people got "let go" last year, right before the Holidays, no one was left to update the site or be the admins for the forum there.

From what I have seen at st.com, 2 admins have come and gone already.

Plus, the team running the web site have not updated the main page since December.
