Well true. But what about when that boat(ship) is in an ion storm? Quite alot of motion if you ask me.

As for the writers... they are first and foremost just that: writers. That function came way before being a trekkie. Knowing technical details beyond what is needed for the story and screen is nice but not required of them, especially when there are more important things to do.

Also, I guess I had no idea that knowing details such as these was a requirement to being a trekkie. Is there some kind of definitive list somewhere endorsed by some official that shows what these requirements are so people will know what they must do before calling themselves trekkies?

Looks fine in my oppinion. Better even. The original just seemed too flimsy to me, like it would snap apart doing a sharp turn and don't even get me started on the thin neck (seriously, it was half as wide as the bridge ffs)

But to each his own eh?

As for the size, I'm not sure they knew how big the original was when they made it. It had deck level windows in the nacelle pylons for gods sake!
