Default What should be in the 'Star Trek' sequel? (And what shouldn't)

Die-hard Star Trek fans seem to have accepted J.J. Abrams' reboot with remarkably little grumbling, thanks to the time-travel-prompted alternate universe that keeps the canon they knew perfectly valid while allowing for new interpretations of the characters and their adventures to flourish. As I was geeking out with a buddy earlier this week, talking about what a Trek sequel might look like, he reminded me of something: There are classic events in the Star Trek Universe that Abrams' reboot didn't undo.

I want a new story, not something from TOS. More easter eggs would be cool, but the story should be something original.

People say lets not bring in the Klingons but I think they should, they mentioned it quite alot at the start and I believe that they would look better now that the technology is more advanced, Also I think a story about a group of rebel fighters who used to be part of the federation would be cool

I mean Kirk and crew tracking down rebels and the twist could be that the captain of that ship could be someone that Kirk new from the academy or someone he knew growing up in Iowa. That would make it more emmotional for Kirk which I think would make a great story.

A villain who has some connection with Romulus called Nerzon or Shinero who hates everyone but especially earth and wants to destroy it...and the Enterprise just for kicks!

Seriously though I'd like to see Klingons in there in some capacity and ultimately a new villain, with plenty of action and good character development building on where XI left off.
