RT had reviews of TREK online weeks before it opened... because audiences around the world were seeing screenings of it weeks before it opened. Let's remember how rare and UNcommon TREK's month-long "world tour" is for film openings -- and it only happened because TREK was finished months ago and in the can.

Not to so for nearly every other film made, and T:S fits that category. They just had the premiere a few days ago. We'll read more about it this coming week.

And indeed, studios often use every minute they can to finish a film. Many stories have been told where first premieres of films start playing on screen without the last reel of the film being in the theater yet. You'd be surprised how often studios cut it that close on film post-production.

After Bale's tirade I lost interest in him and the movie. One should never treat people the way he did that production assistant. I will catch it on DVD, maybe.

I did like the early Terminator films with Arnold Swartzenegger and Linda Hamilton, but my interest has fallen off greatly since then. To tell you the truth, I never expected "Terminator" to become a series of films. The first film was such a "B" movie, but among the best sci-fi "B" movies as far as entertainment value goes. It wasn't exactly "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" or "2001: A Space Odessy" caliber, but it was fun and had, thanks to Arnold, some memorable and long lasting catch phrases.

I don't know, I really don't. Star Trek was good, and it's up there with the best of that series. But where people are calling Star Trek "this year's Iron Man", based on trailer alone T4 looks like it could be "this year's Dark Knight". Everything I've heard about the ammount of effort being put into this production, pouring sweat into making this an actually good skript, I don't know. T4 director may be playing it cool and diplo.

Right now "Terminator" is around 14% on Rotten Tomatoes. Only about 6 or so reviewers but still a pretty bad sign. Hopefully Night at the Museum will be good.

Agreed, it's a very tough call! Of course, if Star Trek can make $318 million like Iron Man, T4 can make whatever it likes!!

E!Online just announced that FOX is cancelling TTSCC (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles). That is, no third season for the show. This seems a little crazy to do this one week before the release of T4, which i predict will overtake Trek this weekend. Maybe they want to jolt fans of the show into the theatres, or maybe they realize this futuristic reboot of the franchise won't be as successful as the upcoming prequel reboot.

That show has been struggling since day 1 - they would have to commit to a season now and then have to wait months to find out if the film would bolster the series or not. Maybe they decided it wasn't a gamble they were prepared to take.

I suppose you are right, in spite of it being part of the same intellectual property, it stands apart as its own separate production and needs to be able to hold its own.

Personally, i never liked the show. Terminator films were basically horror-flicks in sci-fi camoflage. Instead of watching Jason or Michael Myers stalk down their victims, the killer was a robot from the future. And while this pace works well in a movie, it doesn't work well on television. So the show tried to expand the Terminator universe's mythology and tried to open things up by changing the future, a little like Abrams is doing with the new Trek film, but what drew people to the Terminator was the horror element, not all the rest of it. An unstoppable killer, how are they going to stop him? That was the thrill, not how John Connor becomes a hero, or whether they can change the future.
