Because I cannot list them all without thinking for hours on end...I'll just say that Star Wars, Alien, Planet of the Apes, 2001, Star Trek (the new one and a few of the previous ten), and Terminator are all at the top of my list.

1) Forbidden Planet was top of the line. JJ should do a reboot.
2) Star Trek, the motion picture and STAR TREK. EVEN UP. Number 1 if were going modern Science Fiction. STMP has a great story, and really should be honored because it gave us Star Trek back, just like STAR TREK is giving us Star Trek back, sorry the "enterprise series" did more harm that good.
3)Tron (sorry I'm a computer geek)
4) Star Wars VI
5) The Last Star Fighter (as a school kid this movie made me dream of being a part of science fiction

I actually thought The Thing 1982 was better the original cause it's more true to the original story that influenced the 1951 movie, the 1951 movie is quite good.

I'm gonna add Tron to my list as well. A very neat movie even today. Can't wait for the sequel

Most of the stuff from what I call the "80's Scifi Boom". Anything like "Explorers" the Star Trek movies, "The Last Starfighter", "Baby" (remember that one?! Before there was Jurassic Park. Man I love that movie)
