I take it to be a kind of built in observation deck. And as far as I can tell it works like the tint on a car does. Outsiders cant really see inside, but the insiders can see outside.

And for what it's worth I did vote for the Kelvin. I like both ships, but the Kelvin looks more fun to me.

By the way, that weird Kelvin/Constitution hybrid looks like it has nipples for bussard collectors. I don't like it.

I just got back from watching the movie. I fell in love with the Kelvin when I saw her in all her glory on the screen, I liked the Enterprise as well....if it wasn't for this thread I never would have asked myself which I liked better but now you've opened pandora's box...

I'm going to have to say Kelvin, that was one beautiful ship.
