Hmm. Have you a better explanation than this?

Because my understanding, based on interviews with Orci and Kurtzman at TrekMovie and from Countdown is this:

1-Nero and Spock are transported from the 24th century continuity that began with "The Cage" to the time of the previously-unknown command of George Kirk, father of James T. Kirk.

2-George Kirk is killed when the Kelvin is destroyed. This alters the timeline, since originally, Kirk's father lived to go and become a Starfleet officer himself (which influenced Jim to later join himself)

3-A new timeline emerges after this point.

So explain how Kirk Prime could factor into a new film.

Lol i hope they dont and dont think they will, as they have said the time plot device will not be used again....
