NCC; Nah, she sorted me out herself . It would be more of a "then why don't you lend me 2 of your guys, then it's fair" kind of situation if I was involved.

Fran; Completely agree with your analysis. Also, Uhura and the gang are a lot younger in this film; as I'm sure we are all very aware, hormones play havoc with both sexes.

Well Kirk has always been kinda like this... he was just more mellow and smoother later on... as happens with age and experience.

Indeed.

Yeah, that line kinda bugs me too. And believe me I'm far from a prude- fairly the opposite, in fact.

The 'four or five more guys' line seems a little cheesey and cliche'd but I think like this Kirk too, very much so.

She might have if she'd worked for JJ & Co.

I don't think the farm animals line is inappropriate at all for a PG-13 rated movie, and let's not guess what Nichelle would or wouldn't have done after that fan dance.

More importantly, there's a subtext going on in this scene which may make her line stand out more than it will in the film: both Uhura and the big cadet are making fun of Kirk's "farmboy" persona (at least as perceived by others). In this off-duty bar environment of a highly charged, competitive atmosphere, they're 'talking smack', getting in digs with a sense of gamesmanship -- a game (the pick up) is exactly what Kirk is playing on Uhura, and she's returning in kind as an equal.

We know Kirk has a lot to prove about himself in TREK, and this is one piece of that challenge for him.

Besides, with all the intermingling of alien species, people in the 23rd are going to be a lot less sexually uptight than some of us are today. Let's not want the film to represent the future AND blame it for the same thing.

I knew someone would say that. What about the "talented tongue" line? We know he wasn't just refering to her ability to speak many languages!

Kirk and Uhura have great chemistry, but looks like she's envolved with someone else...

...and that 'someone else' romance is also very strange.

Yes, I agree that aspect is very strange.
