I don't think you'll be wrong. I have to believe it's going to be a good story and movie---Nimoy wouldn't have come back otherwise.

You know this could work. Pike is injured on the E while trying to get the warp reactor running during the heat of battle. He gets radiation burns and McCoy sticks him on life support until the movie ends.
Actually pike has been to talos before the life support with spock... so other than that minor sticking point (which is small) I see no reason why this movies story can't mesh into the storyline we already know from TOS (and I'm not sayin that the enterprise has to look the same, have some imagination.)
