I decided to wait, it didn't take as long as I thought it would.

Same here. One of my closest friends got on the blu-ray band wagon when the PS3 came out, my other friend bought the HD-DVD attachment for the Xbox on Boxing Day, I just sat back and watched - now one of them is very happy and the other very upset but I'm as ambivalent as before

As recently as Christmas, my nephew was telling me that Blu-Ray was going away and I should get the HD DVD player.
You just never know!

I guess I will be getting a PS3 in the coming months. As for those with a X-Box 360, maybe Microsoft will come up with some kind of upgrade or external Blu-Ray player...

I guess this is just another reason if I were to get a game system, it might just be a Wii. Don't have to worry about the so-called gaming war.

The HD-DVD player for the Xbox is external so I'd say an external blu-ray in the future is likely.

Default Paramount responds

Not surprised how soon this happened, but Paramount announced yesterday that they will be returning to releasing their films on Blu-Ray.

HD-DVD's other partner, Universal studios, also followed suit.

I’m staying with laserdisc and DVD I never! Once touched HD-DVD and I’m glad and will most certainly not touch a Bluray format.

Funny thing was, after backing HD-DVD exclusively its entire existence, Universal was actually the first to leap into an announcement it was going Blu, very quickly after Toshiba's press conference. Paramount was the last to announce, and did so very quietly with a statement to only one industry paper. No doubt it was less of a big deal to Paramount, since they'd been releasing both formats until somewhat recently. But the conversion to Blu will be a major undertaking for Uni since none of their library is in the format.
