I don't think we'll see anything in the movie that indicates the Hobus supernova is anything other than a unique natural phenomenon.

So he either survives in this movie or he could NOT be any other movie, not without another "back from the dead" storyline or another temporal incursion to prevent his death. I don't see Nimoy returning for any more Trek movies, I think this is his swan song and we'll hear more about it later this year. Just a gut feeling.

I agree.

Just to clarify my position on this subject: I would NOT be surprised if Spock does come to his end in a "blaze of glory", but based on earlier statements and interviews there is NO indication this WILL happen.

Possibly. It may be in fact Pike or young Spock piloting the craft.
