[Chris Fawkes]

Although i think the casting for this movie is great i have wondered what other actors could have filled those roles.
My thoughts were - Mark Wahlberg as Kirk
- William H Macey as McCoy
- Crispin Glover as Spock

Any other suggestions?

Update: Assuming that we know nothing of the story other than it is`original crew.

That could work. (Although, this being a prequel, they were most likely going for somebody younger.)

Though not technically behind the TOS remake idea, were I forced to cast I would also take Mark Wahlberg as Kirk (been advocating Wahlberg at st.com for at least a year now) and Gary Sinese as McCoy.

Wahlberg right now is the perfect age to play the TOS era Kirk.

He has the right build.

Match up pics of the two, there is a closer resemblance between Wahlberg and Shatner than Pine and Shatner.

Most of all, Wahlberg has the attitude for Kirk, the cocky swagger that Shatner brought to the character.

And I bet Wahlberg could master the flying drop kick...

I mean, Wahlberg hasn't been "Marky Mark" for a LONG time now...

Looking alike should only get you so far, especially in a reimagining like this.

As for the swagger...its true, he could pull of A swagger. my problem is that Shatner played kirk as Shatner, and if Wallberg came on, hed play Kirk as himself... We have to have an actor that can be a chameleon and play Kirk not as himself, but as Kirk, ya know?

I'm not sure if im explaining myself properly, I just want to look at the screen and not think "oh.. thats wallberg", i want to look at the screen and think "oh, its kirk!" Star Trek has never been and should never be an A-List production. It takes away from the believability.
Hehe, it has been along time since he was Marky Mark, but hey, none of the star trek actors have ever been able to completely shake their roles either :P

Which would you have rather had in that case, Damon or Wahlberg?

I think Wahlberg could have done the part well.

And it's been some time since I've seen him referred to by his old rap moniker...I think he's earned some kind of respect. Chris Pine? the most I can think of him is "Wow, his dad used to be Sgt. Getraer on "CHiPS"...
