I thought the thing with the wormhole was not that it taught people about the existence of the gamma, or alpha, quadrants, but it made travel between two, random, remote points of each possible?

the columbia got shot though a subspace tunnel (not a wormhole)

BUT, if the Columbia had been found by the Dominion, then they could have FOUND OUT about Earth and so on.

possably but they could not use the main computer because it got too badly damaged
