Just from the way she is talking, she is perfect for the role and what that character embodies. Even with all our social progression over the past 43 years, she still represents forward thinking for women today.

Saldana is stunning. I loved her in Tom Hank's The Terminal. Talk about foreshadowing. She played a Trekkie. Too cute.

I just hope they bring in Nurse Chapel at some point in this movie or the next. Her crush on Spock was so sad and sweet.

It would take a week for me to list all the people I know who have never seen TOS, Now the list gets smaller when you add the movies, TNG, DS9, Vor, or Ent to the mix. With that said I am sure they are very few who have never heard of Star Trek or the names Kirk, Spock, McCoy, et al.

One wouldn't have to grow up in "the Congo" (), as you put it, and not have seen TOS. Believe it or not, Star Trek in any incarnation, does not float everyone's boat. There are some that simply refuse to see it (like some people that I know of that refuse to watch the new Battlestar Galactica), or have simply grown up without it. Even though Star Trek came first, the Star Wars films have superceded Star Trek in many ways (and I am not a fan of every Star Wars film. IMO, Mr. Lucas should have stopped with SW:ROTJ).
