I think that it's maybe that the drawing's nacelles are too long. If I try to match them up to the one's in the visual effects shot they don't look (to me) as long as in the artist one. Could be the bad angle of the effects pic that distorts it all though.

Could Be, I think they look too thick. The Enginneering Hull looks too big as well, but im going to wait to get an official shot before i jump to conclusions.

I like this quote from the TrekBBS site.

The core aesthetic is elusive; always is. But there are some people who just "get it." Casino Royale's director "got it." I think Nolan, largely, "gets it," with Batman. For all the re-envisioning, re-designing, etc., the core is intact. There are other examples of successfully remaining true to a core aesthetic, and way more examples of failing. Like the prequels: 900 flavors of doesn't have a clue. This Enterprise, and virtually all of the design I've seen falls squarely in the "doesn't get it," category, I feel.

But then again, I bet most of us can agree the costumes are fine. The costume designer seemed more or less to "get it."

_Mike

Pretty much sums it up.

Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait... a... minute...

Someone put up a comparison picture of the old and new Enterprise together. Looking at that picture I'd have to say, now I really don't know what has everyone's panties in a bunch. At most the new ship simply has a lot of sleek modifications. But in my opinion it's still the Enterprise. Here's the picture:

As far as the interior is concerned (the bridge and all that) yes, I get why people are mad, but exterior wise, I don't get it.

This is Koerner's Enterprise, not the one we're talking about.

That looks like the Enterprise for the upcoming movie at front view.

It certainly is not. Note the wrong deflector dish and especially the nacelles... no cadillac design, ya know

Sorry, no. The new ship looks like this:

And I don't have a problem with it at all.

Honestly, I think we all will get used to it and eventually enjoy the design just like with the TNG Enterprise and all the other ones before and after it (possibly excluding the Akiraprise)
