This is a timlely topic, as I just wrote a short commentary on my site about this very subject: I'm glad the film was delayed, too. The economy is very tight right now, even more so at the holidays and year-end.

Box office expectations for the films opening this week(end) look very modest, and while their numbers would likely be outpaced had TREK opened, the results may be a sign that people aren't exactly rushing to theaters over this holiday.

I think May will prove much more fertile and advantageous ground for TREK than this December would have.

So much for STAR TREK optimism about the future.

One 'improvement' is indisputable: people won't be spending hundres of dollars on holiday presents in early May.
