Unhappy Delay in release

Since Paramount announced that Trek would be delayed until May...what do you think this means for the movie? Do you think they are delaying to do reshoots or rework the script?

According to Paramount it's part of a larger reorganization they're doing. Star Trek wasn't the only film moved, I think. They've claimed that in Star Trek's case it has nothing to do with the script, but take that as you will.

I think by delaying the release there is a better chance of something major leaking...

not to mention unless they keep up some major marketing and advertisement, interest is likely to wander for many of the "non-trek" fans they are trying to attract. i'm also disappointed in paramount's reasoning for delaying the release because of "bigger box office"...or money.

Thumbs up Yay for the delay!

Personally I think it's great! I'm the President of my Klingon club and we're trying to set up a table at a local theater for its release. Trying to do it on a holiday was making for a mess of things.

We thought it was absurd to do it so close to a major holiday...even worse to do it ON a major holiday! Contrary to some of the stereotypes of Trek fans, some of us actually do have families and want to be with them at that time.

It's easy to criticize someone or something trying to make money and not just making it for its artistic vision or for the fans...but that's the world we live in. And remember, we want this movie to do well at the box office, or the last nail probably will be hammered into Star Trek's coffin.

I envision this movie being like STAR WARS was back in 1977! This feels the same...a big block-buster in the making. I am sure if Paramount times the "hype-engine" right, it will lead up to one hell of a debut. I have a good feeling about this delay since May 8, is United Federation of Planets day...when the Federation was founded. Very fitting.

I think we all will be pleasantly surprised!
