The Stargate series takes the principle of the Stargate movie and expands upon them using the same characters and in some cases the same actors to explain the presence of religion on Earth. They have explored the Cananite religion, primarily Egyptians, Norse and Chrisitian.

It is the longest running American Sci Fi series. And both series have had my attention though I favored the realism of Stargate Atlantis.

I'm not sure about this new series it seems contrived and inmature. But we will see.

THe whole thing being based on a space ship seems a bit too much of a step away from what the whole universe is based on.

I'm thinking the same sort of thing. I'm wondering if they gate to this ship and it is farther out than anything dealt with in the stargate universe so far. Maybe there will be absolutely nothing familiar except the ancients. I'm just really hoping it's good cause otherwise they should just keep with Atlantis, the show has plenty of life left in it, IMO.

Me too. This one look like it'll be something like a star wars series.
(this Robert Dude looks dorky for Stargate)

I know it's going too soon but they screwed it up by killing off the relationship between the actor for Elizabeth Weir.

They'll know better next time. I hope she does well in what ever she doesn. I think she's classy.

Not too long ago Stargate was erroneously given the Guinness World Record for longest running Science Fiction Television show, until the whole thing was sorted out when a very confused set of Doctor Who people sent the Guinness team a letter asking for clarification!

Yes Torri is a classy lady. I liked her too bad they screwed that up. All in all still my favorite couple series.

I agree. The first three seasons of Atlantis are top-notch. Very nicely done. It's after she leaves that it went down hill. The consistency was gone and the only episodes that really grabbed me were the "Tod the wraith" episodes. Everything else just seemed weak to how the first three seasons played out.

I like Carlyle. He can be quite edgy, which they say is the direction they're wanting to go in, though I always thought Atlantis was much darker, dramatic and more edgy than SG-1, hope they don't go overboard with it, but Carlyle should prove to be an interesting choice IMO.

Yeah it's the longest running American sci fi series.

I think they decided they couldn't repair that damage so they decided to put the series under. And I think they're right. If you could repair that and bring her back then it would be....the greatest boost ever to the ratings

But they screwed up.
They wanted to find a place for Amanda Tapping. (Who's a fine gal of her own right) But Tori can't put her life on hold untill stargate decides they want her back. They didn't even give her warning or tell her when they wanted her back. Just bad diplomacy all around.

Ratings should be more important than employee loyalty. I think people like that Atlantis and "SG-1" were different. I don't think they would have minded her commanding a ship and cameo appeareances or even or even Daniel becoming a regular part of the team....but replacing one of the faves...

You see they manage to capture the sexual tension between John and Elizabeth perfectly, just as they did between Jack and Sam. That's something you don't mess with...You don't mess with peoples hearts , at least not like that.
