Might be interesting if the fact that Monchezke lies in the Beta Quadrant has any plot relevance, why else would they mention were his/her/its planet is located?
I guess as security officer he is also a tactical / weapons officer and it might be that his species was prone to Romulans's attack in the past (just borde skirmishes, no visual contact to stick with BoT) so he can contribute something concerning their usual behaviour.
Is this too far-fetched and am I overexploring the fact that the Beta Quadrant is mentioned?
