I agree. Images should be forbidden in signatures. We have avatars - that's enough in my opinion. It's all about the content and those huge images just distract from that.

I think there is more issue with the height (200 pixels) and not as much as if something is 700 or 750 pixels wide. If it's kept at 200 pixels or below height wise and you run a little over 700 pixels wide, it's not a big deal.

Also the issues with big signatures is worse in Vbulletin because unlike other forums the user profile is spanned across the top rather than a left pane like most. So you already have extra vertical space so to that and coupled with big signature images makes it even worse

You can go to Use CP > Edit Options and scroll down to Thread Display Options. There you can choose to not see signatures avatars and other images. Just uncheck the boxes and scroll down to "save changes"

Yes, do to the above format I just mentioned it does give you more length at the bottom, its just the height as mentioned.

Thanks for the tip - but some signatures are just too nice/funny/whatever to switch them off But the banners are just "too much" IMO.

vBulletin offers the capability for users to choose different styles for display, if these have been designed into the board.

Perhaps TPTB might consider some kind of plainer display - fewer images, dark text on light background - to be loaded as an alternative, particularly for people who have visual problems (see the other topics in this forum).

Over at the Bethesda forums the limit is 150 by 400 but I still find them too big so I have them set not to display. Just my opinion.

I personally do not find banners like the Trek United one annoying at 600 X 80 but the Heaven banner is a little much. It's just too "in your face" for my taste on message boards.
