Default Did the fans force Abrams to reveal the Enterprise?

I was wondering that and I am trying to remember when the revealing was for the 79 Enterprise before that film came out at Christmas. 29 yrs is a long time. I think they revealed it several months before the film as well. What is your thoughts on this. Before the pic of her all the fans everywhere were getting pretty irritated about not seeing it. Did they make it happen or did Paramount make it happen.

My guess is, knowing how clever those sly devils at Paramount are... they did it early in such a way as to make everyone think the fans pushed it, yet didn't, and it's all part of the 'master plan'... some way of breaking the new look to the real fans in advance to test/see the reaction, and tease the new audience that are not fans with flashy new ship... but, I could be wrong... wouldn't be the first time.

They wanted to give us time to get used to it.

Like when a friend sets you up on a date and shows you a picture, "Dont worry she looks better in person."

I don't think the Enterprise was revealed early at all. It was at the right time, IMO. Any later might have pleased some folks, but usually you start pushing a big tentpole film like this around this time to start generating buzz beyond the Trekkies.

Star Trek ain't Cloverfield...

Well, the '79 Enterprise was only a minor -- very minor -- redress of the '75 Enterprise which was to be used in Star Trek: Phase II, so I have a feeling no one was really left speechless when it was finally revealed anyway.

As for this film... couldn't say. I hate to sound cynical -- okay, I don't, really -- but they might've duped a vast number more purists if they'd left it for the theaters.
