Yup. If it reaches well into the Top 100 of All-Time, it's basically assured, but I'm uncertain of that actually happening...

Hey, yeah! Then we can have the whole "stick shift" discussion again!

Totally not comparable except for this one thing to ponder...

What if The Phantom Menace had actually been good...?

Yeah, I'd really love to see another Star Trek series, but that's just because I love Trek so much. But I do wonder at the chances of getting the same cast for the series that has been in the movies. If a new series is made, it'll be interesting to see ... it'll be the first time the movie has come before the series. Cart before horse? Hah, I'm not sure. But I'd rather see the movie before deciding whether I want to see these folks (or this new version of Trek) in a series.

I think Trek on TV needs a bit more time to rest.

Things are kind of different these days at Paramount. The TV and film divisions are now owned by separate companies, so the days of one person like Rick Berman overseeing both Trek movies and TV shows are over, IMO. I think CBS/Paramount will hire anyone other than J.J. Abrams to do a TV series and it'll probably be as far removed from the new movie era as possible. Then again, they may simply do a TOS reboot of their own...

I dunno? I am really on the fence here on this one guys. Would I like to see another Star Trek series...uh...hells yeah! Would I like to see Kirk, Spock and Crew finish thier original five year mission? Yes and no...I would have to then listen to endless debate from people that follow canon to endth degree, that would nitpick it off the air. I personally would love it though if they would fill in some gaps and just provide new adventures aside from "canon" that we could all just enjoy for the sake of having more Trek. Just my opinion.

I think we can rule out a 'new' TOS series with thi cast, they will be saved for the big screen. But whether Abrams should be involved is a more open question, I like his work a lot, but some things I don't (LOST in particular I can't watch) so I really do think I'd like to see the film first.

I think if this movie does well, another one or two with the same cast might follow, and only then will a new series be considered. As you said, Kevin, you don't do 16h days in a TV show as actor after you worked in a blockbuster.

Doubt this cast will become a part of a series. Quinto is busy with Heroes and I'm sure these actors have better things to do than TV. Also even though I love Abrams and his shows, (Lost Alias and the new Fringe are all in my favorites) I don't want him coming anywhere near a series show. I think he's a good few times with this movie, but as for a TV show he's not the right fit for Trek IMO.
