kind of sad, I really thought it was real.
But, it could be a bit closer now.
if you remember the movie "The Time Machine" from a few years ago they had a hologram set up around glass (or something) and it would project an apparent 3D image onto the glass.

The problem here is that what was on CNN and MSNBC was a digital video trick which has no bearing on the real-space world. It's a very selling illusion, but 100% illusion just the same -- no actual application in practicality, except a one-day real hologram might look much the same were it ever invented.

This effect is basically a quasi-3D version of the down/yardage graphics now 'projected' onto football fields in NFL games.

I figured it was just for the viewers. Kinda a neat effect anyway.

There is a company that DOES have an actual 3d hologram technology that works. However right now the technology is used only on stages. It looks much better than that crappy CNN one too.
