Do your best to listen to WAR OF THE WORLDS in a 'old radio' environment: no TV, few distractions, darken the room a bit and get comfortable so you get into the broadcast. It's theater of the mind, so meet it halfway and you'll get a good idea how listeners in 1938 first heard it.
