Any rumours or facts about the casting of the role of Janice Rand?

I've not heard, but it would be nice eye candy to cast her.

I kind of expect them to sprinkle in familiar characters throughout the 3 (or more) movies. It sounds as though this one is already full to bustin', so since we haven't heard that Rand is in it, I wouldn't hold my (heated) breath. Would love to see her, though.
Also, Riley, Finnegan, and more.

Why do they need a Rand? They've already dumped Lee Korso, Dr. Mark Piper and Gary Mitchell from the original crew list.... So what is one more, or less in this case? Hell physicist Sulu is starting as a helmsman already and come to think of it Chekov is starting out onboard as well.... Although that would account for Khan never forgetting the face of someone he never met in TOS.....

I would love to see Rand and a young Carol Marcus. The whole Marcus/Kirk relationship could be explained and it would tie in nicely to Star Trek II.
