If they bring back Shatner, in the "right way" in the sequel, it looks like we'll be looking at another time travel plot-driven film.

I think it was one of many ideas they kicked around during creation of the script. Kirk is dead by the time this film takes place, there was no room for Shatener.

They should just go ahead and make a Star Trek where all the different alternate timelines clash. Talk about your 6-10 hour movie.
