Except for I hate Star Wars and love Star Trek. I've hated Star Wars since the first time I watched the trilogy when I was like eight years old. I don't know what it is but I just never liked it. I do know that I was TERRIFIED of Chewbaca and I still don't like him, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I did like Episode One, though. I only saw that because it involved a bet. Long story.

That's funny....I never thought about the similarity between them. A standard formula, I suppose. I enjoyed the original Star Wars, but-

My heart belongs to Star Trek- I read scifi in elementary school and loved it. Then Spock and Star Trek came along......

Star Wars, Star Trek......love 'em both. And seeing the movie Fanboys only reminded me of why competition, or derogatory remarks of one over the other is utterly stupid......funny a movie as it was.

Both are the basic formula of good over evil as told by Joseph Campbell. Neither Lucas nor JJ made it up. It's popular because it works.

Seriously, this video is funny, but claiming that Star Trek is incredibly similar to Star Wars would be ridiculous. You could as well say that Star Wars ripped off Hamlet or Lion King or whatever, and I am sure you could find ways to make it seem like the two had the same plot. Pretty much every origin story is similar, and follows the archetypal "Hero's journey".

This video only addresses the new Star Trek movie, not the franchise as a whole. The more I learn about this film, the more i realize it is Trek because it derives from many Trek sources, but there's no denying the similarity with the original Star Wars, could that be the reason for the film's box-office success?

Macbeth: has a comedy Scotsman. And PICARD was in it.

Two Noble Kinsmen – has a Doctor.

Hamlet: bloke’s dad is famous warrior and gets killed, and he is sad and he kills the killer, and when I saw it PICARD was in it, with that DOCTOR WHO, who is a time-travellers, so that is where Star Trek ripped off the Time Travel plot as well, obviously.
