From what I understand, Alien will be a complete reboot(credit to DreadCentral.com)
and will actually give origins to the creatures themselves....and last I heard, Robert Rodriguez (Planet Terror, Spy Kids) was attached to the Predator franchise. |

As Long as we don't get robo-Winona I'll be fine with it. Actually, an origin reboot sounds pretty interesting, but 'Alien' like 'Terminator' has always been foremost a slasher type of film, but with sci-fi trappings. I hope they don't forget this. |

Dunno, but since I just picked up the rebooted Aliens comic from Dark Horse, which coincidentally (or not) is also relaunching a rebooted Predator series I'm not surprised to hear the news really.
Then again, with the announcement of a Whedonless rebooted Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the cinema (which strangely is having negative feedback) it seems that all things old are new again. [Really not looking forward to a SMG Buffy who is old enough to be a mom of a teenager]. If the reimaginings are anywhere near Star Trek quality it might be an interesting ride.

That's because you really can't do Buffy without Whedon. The concept was less than half-baked until he came back and re-invented it for TV.

I have minor concerns, but will wait to officially grab my torch and or pitchfork until more details of the stories for these films are available.
Oh, and heaps of concept art, set pics, the works. *sigh* The internet spoils me in so many ways. |

Generally, I am not the type to scoff at reboots/remakes.....but I am of the mind at this point that:
ARE THEY FRACKING CRAZY?!! Alien was perfection. There was even talk of remaking "The Exorcist"....thankfully, that seems to have fallen by the wayside. Another perfect movie that does NOT need to be remade.

Well, taking into mind this is Fox, whose track record of quality lately under Rothman seems to have pretty much gone down the loo.
They seem to be the most eager studio the last couple of years when it comes to remakes. |
