After Kirk is made captain and relieves Pike, you see older Spock saying "Thrusters on full" and then it cuts over to the enterprise.
What is the meaning of Spock saying that...? |

I think it was a way of saying that everything is as it should be. Spock and Kirk are friends, Kirk is the captain of the Enterprise, and so on. Everything's on course and full speed ahead.

Ahh alright, I didn't know if there was a reference to something specific or from past movies.

I took it as spock succeeding at whatever course correction he was trying to accomplish, through lying to kirk about not mentioning him to get spock to realize what they could accomplish together, etc... Probably also put in in case the movie flopped, they could just leave it as a prequel to the rest of the roddenberry continuity, and not as a new universe, with little disruption of the time line(that is, other than vulcan being kaput).

Just a little prelude to the Enterprise crew sailing off for their next adventure as well as him saying afterwards "space, the final frontier ...".g

Sounds like he was also reminiscing about his past. It was a good line.

I agree. It is an old man watching young ones leave the nest.

Too bad it was spoiled a bit by Scotty saying "Dilithium crystal chambers are at full." Which just made one of those "scratching record" noises inside my head.

Nothing wrong with that... 'dilithium chambers at maximum'... that's where the antimatter/matter reactions take place, so he's saying the reactions are fully engaged. So the core is ready to go. Makes sense in my head anyway. :P
