Sadly, I still do not have my drivers license. I know how to drive, and have gotten my permit several times, but I just never got around to taking the driving test. Now, my permit is expired and I need to take the written test all over again. The sucky part is, is that the DMV in Santa Monica is closed for repairs or something. I heard it's going to be closed for a month or so. Just my luck, huh? Anyway, how many of you drive and how many of you do not?

Don't worry Quark. I too do not drive, have gotten my permit several times, but also not my license. At this point, i've gotten so used to biking and taking public transportation everywhere that most cars have begun to annoy me, as I've realised just how sickly dependent this nation is on them. But this is one of my pet rants which I will not go into at this time.

I grew up on a farm. I was driving grain trucks since I was 12. Learned to drive on the road in my big sisters 65 Corvair Monza... earned my paycheck for almost 12 years going, driving a route for a medical testing lab.

My favorite car that I ever owned was a '74 VW bug. (I drove it for almost a quarter of a century, before rust finally killed it. These days, I drive an old (but solid) '85 Ford Bonco II.

I have a license since 5 years but I barely use it... I don't like to drive, it gives me a headache.

Don't worry mister Quark... I was late in taking driver's ed in high school and getting the first permit. I was already in college by the time I took the drivers test. I didn't get a car to use until the last year when my parents knew I needed a car to go job hunting and doing the internships.

Right now I take the bus mostly because I don't want to bother with parking fees, and fueling. Its convenient for me.

Been driving since 1973. Rode a motorcycle for the first 4 years. Then car + motorcycles until married in 1991. Now car only. Will buy a Harley Motorcycle when I retire (Hopefully) or hitch up a caravan and see the parts of Australia together with my wife, that I missed the first time around on my motorcycle.
