Saw the fourth launch of Columbia in person. It was quite an amazing sight. Always glad to see 'em go up and better yet come home safely.

Yeah, one of my dreams is seeing a shuttle launch or land. My girlfriend has, but I really want too.

I watched the launch live on NASA TV awesome and the plus was watching the ISS passing overhead in Bournemouth at night-time 210 miles up at 17.000MPH about hour later I saw space shuttle Atlantis STS-122 passing overhead on the same course heading.
All you need is this NASA sightings device to show you where in the world, you can view satellite or ISS and shuttle sightings, its really easy to use and with STS-123 Endeavour being launched in March won’t be too long before I’m outside again looking upwards. http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/

We were in the public viewing area on the other side of the (I think) Banana River. Even that far away the ground shook and the noise was powerful. Can only imagine what the Saturn V's were like in the Apollo days.
