Default The dreaded "Star Wars" freudian slip.

Let's hear it, how many people do you know who have said "Star Wars" completely unwittingly when they meant to say Star Trek in a conversation with you.

I've had soooo many friends and other people approach me and ask me about the new Star Trek movie, then afterwards they feel super embarassed about saying "Star Wars" by mistake. And they should be embarassed, and it's kinda nice to be a nerd and have others feel embarassed that they don't know as much as you do. It's kinda empowering to be honest. I hope my ego doesn't inflate too much.

I've had some friends say "Star Wars" by mistake, literally minutes after seeing the movie with me.

Star Wars is so engrained in people's vocabulary.

*sigh*

Here's hoping that one of these days, when a new Star Wars movie is released, it will be "Star Trek" that people are saying by mistake.

To play devils advocate somewhat this Trek did have a more Wars feel..even the warp effect was hyper spacey (grr)

What, are you kidding? That's part of the draw the got me to see it. JJ Abrams admitted that he was more of a Star Wars fan, I figured this film would be a much needed reboot to Star Trek AND be the Star Wars Episode 1 that I wanted to see 10 years ago.

THAT's why I went, and this film delivered like no other! Thank you JJ Abrams, I doubted the heck out of you... but you pulled through and showed me otherwise.

I was hoping this thread wouldn't go that route. I'm just making an observation of the popularity of the two franchises. This observation has nothing to do with the actual content of either franchise's movies.

I agree with RedShirtsRus...it's a slip of the tongue, not a Freudian slip.

I know this because I did it myself!! And I haven't seen a Star Wars movie since I don't know when.

I've been forgiving of that one. I always consider that an issue of accent and not necessarily mispronunciation or outright mistake.

That offends me much more than the Star Wars slip.
Confusing the two franchises is a simple mistake.
Calling it "Star Track" is more along the lines of illiteracy, complacency, or just plain stupidity.
