Default I would have liked to see in the movie... (possible spoilers)

I would have liked to see Cybok (sp?) - Spock's half brother from Star Trek V, in the 'school' Spock was attending- coming to spock's aide perhaps when the other vulcans were 'picking' on him... Just a few seconds where they say his name would have been a nice reference... they did many such others.

While I don't think Sybok was ever considered for this film, apparently scenes on Vulcan had to be trimmed for running time, so even if they had filmed the character, odds are it would have been cut out anyway. Just as well they saved the time and money on it.

Hell, even Sam didn't make the final cut.

He was there, walking and watching the car and hoverbike pass by
I actually think he looked better than little Kirk. They should have switched characters
And I hope they have more backstory for Sam on the DVD, since he was a biologist in the series...

I don't think that was Sam because as Kirk Junior drove past he shouted 'Hey Johnny' as far as I could tell anyway. Did anyone else hear it?

Yes, but in the novel, it's his brother. Also the actor is supposed to play Sam according to IMDB

I guess they wanted to play up the theme of Spock being a lonely outcast.

Speaking of Sybok actually, when did he leave Vulcan? He might still be out there.

My guestimate would by that Sybok was older then Spock... Spock was just about to join the science academy so Sybock would have been in it already... and left? perhaps.

Woo Hoo! If Sybock was on Vulcan, then ST-V never happened!

Sybok was banned from Vulcan when Spock was young.

There are outtakes on the ST5-DVD, where Spock in a childish voice whines: "Take me with you.", after Sybok tells him in a haste he was banned as an heredic.

Sybok answered: "No, it's too dangerous. You've chosen the Vulcan way."

Then he left Vulcan.

This had to be some time before Spock stood in front of the VSA Council.

So Sybok, in case he exists in this Universe, wasn't on Vulcan, when it imploded.
