Default How will Star Trek compare to Wolverine's $87,000,000?

That's X-Men Origins: Wolverine's gross at the box office on its opening weekend according to Box Office Mojo.

How will Star Trek stack up? Thoughts/projections/conjecture...?

How many showings per day per theater? Showing a movie 4 times a day vs 5 makes a difference.

The weekend isn't even over yet. Is this a projected number or the numbers as they stand right now before the weekend concludes?

I think it defiantly has the potential to and will. Just about everyone I've talked to has been more interested in seeing the new Trek

They get finalised on a Monday - but they never vary significantly. It might get rounded down or up slightly, but will be in that ballpark.

It's no record breaker of a debut, but it's solid enough for a $150 million picture.

@Samuel: Good question...that's not part of the statistics, although, Star Trek does have an extra day in its opening weekend, too. (Thursday, May 7)

@MrQ1701: The $87,000,000 total includes a projection for Sunday. They're projections are normally really close and the actuals will be updated Monday afternoon (usually).

Is Trek going to open on fewer screens than X-Men?

How many screens versus how many screens?

Won't an extra day and different screen numbers kind of mess up the comparison? Isn't that comparing apples to oranges? And why do the number of screen vary so much? I have never been to a theater that did NOT carry a new movie on opening night.
