who thought that the episode for somereason felt more like a low budget movie than a tv show? i just think the acting is perfect, the soundtrack is amazing, ofcourse the story, and just how it was serious and had great action in it. i know it wouldnt happen but i would love to see them make a movie out of this somehow. i could just imagine wolf359 ha. what does everyone else think?

It definitely had movie quality script and scope. It'll never be redone, but it was the best Trek movie never made.

It was the single greatest two parter in history with none other coming even remotely close. Everything since has fallen far short of this thrilling conclusion.

Lot of Trek episodes had feature film quality. When it aired, 'Best of Both Worlds' was the hitherto closest to a movie in TV Trek, but it's not like future episodes, especially in DS9 and ENT, did not supersede.

There was something that just came together in BOBW that just put it a cut above the others. Story, acting, effects just all worked out perfectly. There were indeed many good DS9 episdoes that came later, but BOBW got in there ahead of them!

It was the music.

Agreed, definitely the music. I wish I could find a clean copy of it...

Best of Both Worlds also had that killer cliffhanger that (when it was originally aired) kept you salivating all summer and a kickass second part resolution for the season premier ep that fall. Classic entertainment.

The music was pretty epic, always reminded of Mars by Holst in parts of it, very dramatic, like the episode as a whole. And the epitome of the Borg in terms of the threat they posed, nothing had come close to them then and not much has since. Classic.

It's no wonder that it has always been voted the fan favorite TNG episode. It really was lightning in a bottle - inspired storytelling done under pressure, especially the second part. Absolutely amazing. One of my favorite things about it was it allowed my favorite Trek character of all - Riker - to be in command to save the day, with a little help of course from Data and the whole crew. A complete standout. And I do remember the tension all that summer of 1990!! Riker: "Mr. Worf ... fire." Blackout - TO BE CONTINUED ... Wow!
