Speculation about the new "E"s abilities
He's a wild theory.
I wonder.
There's nothing to say it is or it isn't, but given the fact that "things" have changed who is to say that things haven't developed in a slightly different way in the alternate timeline. Thoughts...

Please no. Change the interior all you wish, but the Enterprise is capped at warp 9 in extreme emergencies, keep the weapons the same, etc...

Although technically, any starship is capable of time travel via a slingshot or cold start.

I agree. Change the design, please not the abilities. Keep it in the time frame of Kirk and not the time frame of the "Temporal Cold War" era

No, please not time travel. That really would be a different Star Trek. It wouldn't have the same mission. With this new device they'd be obligated as time travel personnel. I like how Trek has represented time travel thus far as something that's with limits. A Doc Brown time travel device is time travel with no limits and would change the plot and mission of Star Trek from exploring new worlds existing in your own existing time period, to going back in time to see how dinosaurs died.

There is nothing I've seen that would radically change the development of the technology for the Enterprise, or any other starship or facility.
The Enterprise probably has the same apabilities as it originally did, IMHO.

If the NCC-1701 were capable of time travel, beyond cold start and the slingshot effect, that would be the single worst thing JJ and Co. could change on the ship.
 I've like everything I've seen thus far, but that would be a deal breaker...however, it won't happen. The only thing different about this ship from what I can tell is the look (which is fantastic).

If they had built-in time-travel gear in the 23rd century, then Nero wouldn't be a problem - they could backtrack or jump forward as often as it took to defeat him.
Why on Earth would they make the new version of the ship into a timeship? The only 'answer' I can find is, "so that it might re-set history and magically transform into the real Enterprise at the end"...
