James T. Kirk did not die. If Guinan is able to have a self outside of the Nexus as well as inside, why not Kirk? Why can't someone go and get Kirk out again?
Also, who thinks that the whole entire movie is Spock's eulogy at Kirk's second funeral? |

I don't beleive that Kirk really died. I mean, if the nexus is anything we want it to be, how would Picard be able to just show up where Kirk was located? And also, how do we know that was the Kirk and not just an image of Kirk? In addition, even if you escaped the nexus, time still went on in reality from the point in which you entered. So, in fact, the Enterprise-D crew, along with Veridian III and IV were succesfully destroyed by Soran. Time may not have any meaning in the nexus, but once you leave, it does. Yet they still went back in time, so the only conclusion is that Picard never left the Nexus, even to this day!

Okay, here we go. Star Trek XI starts off in the alternate universe that the Nexus made in which Picard and Kirk save the day at the end.
The movie starts at Kirk's funeral, right after Generations, with Spock giving the eulogy. The movie can be a farewell not only for TOS, but the TNG, maybe DS9 crew, and some VOY crew (since it would happen before their incident). They would be attending the funeral. Anyone want to back me up? Of course it would be a HUGE SECRET to bring in all those cast members (minus Doohan or Kelley, who are still alive in this time period. (Kelley seen in TNGS1E2 and Doohan through the transporter [though it wouldn't be too hard to get digital copies of them in there]) |

Too complicated for the casual sci-fi/trek moviegoers. However the fanbois would love it.
I am in the middle, I love to have these theories for fun and discussion, but I also understand it would never work in the Movie and I hope they stay way clear of the Nexus. They would need to start the movie with a refresher course just to get the masses remotely familiar with all those details: Previously in the Star Trek we last saw Kirk............. |

Kirk's dead. End of story. He's buried under a big pile of rocks on top of a mountain on Veridian III.
I've gone back and forth on this whole "Guinan" angle and...well...Guinan was ripped from the Nexus when she was beamed off the Likul by the Enterprise B. An echo of her may exist there because she was "in flux," as it were. We also know that "copy" of Guinan can't leave the Nexus. Yet, Kirk and Picard could. That seemingly doesn't fit with the whole "copy of Kirk/Picard" in the Nexus angle. Kirk left the Nexus of his own free will to assist Picard. I don't think there's a Kirk still running around the Nexus--or a Picard--in Xerox form or the genuine article. |

Kirk could reappear but I doubt it. William Shatner may find some way to get into the movie and I would think J.J. would keep it a secret, but it isn't very likely. Chris Pine is the new James T. Kirk and we should just look forward to see if he can pull it off.

That's why I think Shatner will be in the movie. All the hype about his absense is just a "gimmick" for free publicity. Given the time travel angle to the movie, there are a myriad ways to get him into the movie.
